The Can Gio Net Zero Platform (CGNZP) and Carbonization Project is a flagship climate and green-economy initiative designed to transform Can Gio District, Ho Chi Minh City, into Southeast Asia’s first carbon-negative economic zone. Centered on approximately 75,740 hectares of UNESCO-recognized biosphere reserve and 34,809 hectares of protected mangrove forest, the project integrates carbon finance, biodiversity conservation, renewable energy, sustainable aquaculture, ecotourism, circular infrastructure, and digital transformation.
The project is supported by OXI-ZEN Solutions LLC (Switzerland), a blockchain-enabled carbon market platform utilizing advanced carbon accounting, satellite monitoring, AI analytics, and transparent Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV) systems. OXI-ZEN is partnered in Vietnam by EGW New World Energy Co., Ltd., which brings expertise in renewable energy, LNG transition projects, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and sustainable infrastructure development.
The investment program proposes approximately USD 144.5 million in capital deployment during 2026–2030 through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) structure supported by green bonds and blended climate finance. The project’s primary value driver is premium blue carbon credit generation, supported by diversified revenue streams from ecotourism, sustainable aquaculture, renewable energy, circular economy infrastructure, and bioeconomy activities.
Projected environmental benefits include carbon sequestration rates of approximately 24.8–32 tCO₂e per hectare annually, biodiversity protection, coastal resilience enhancement, and support for Vietnam’s Net Zero 2050 commitments. Social benefits include sustainable livelihoods, community participation, job creation, capacity building, and revenue-sharing mechanisms benefiting more than 70,000 local residents.
Financial analysis indicates strong long-term viability, with estimated project NPV exceeding USD 400 million and attractive investment returns driven by carbon markets and diversified operating revenues. The project aligns with international ESG frameworks, including GRI, SASB, TCFD, ISSB, Verra, and Gold Standard methodologies, positioning Can Gio as a globally recognized model for climate resilience, sustainable development, and nature-based carbon finance.
